Tired - 疲れている

The surgery took more out of me than I counted on, I am still very tired after a month of recovery. However, with some judicious self control I have only gained back about 5 of the 15 pounds I lost. Not bad. I am looking forward to having a bit more energy though. I am also using the time to catch up on Amateur (ham) radio things, I haven't really done much with it for the past 16 years, so I figured its time to get active again, dust off the old morse key, and have some fun building some projects again. またね

Gall Bladder

Well, overall, I am feeling pretty good, my innards are still letting me know that they are not happy having been cut open and a piece removed, however I have had no repetitions of the hideous pain I was having before, not only that I haven't experienced any real gut aches since the day before the surgery, so overall things are looking up. I lost 15 pounds in the week following surgery and have only gained back 4 so far, this is good, but I am not holding my breath that it will stay off. At this point, the loss of 14 more pounds would make a total loss of 100 pounds.... I am getting closer to looking like I did in the photo in my profile, hair a little thinner, mustache is gray, heading to white, but I can live with that. Yee - haw. またね

November 11

Well, it is now November 11th and I am feeling pretty good, played hooky from church this morning (yeah, I know, bad boy....) we watched the Remembrance Day ceremonies held at the cenotaph in front of the Legislature buildings. It is important we stop and think, and thank those who served, many giving their lives so that we wouldn't have to worship at the feet of Der Fuhrer. Because of them we have the rights we do. Without them, our medical professionals would doubtless be very "constrained" in what they could do and who they could help and how, and that is probably an understatement. If you enjoy the life you live in our western world, thank a vet, it's because of their selfless service that we are free.

Done

Well, last Thursday was back into the operating theatre, since I am here typing you can gather it was successful. The hospital staff where I have had my surgeries have all been phenomenal, they are simply the best. Man that morphine is a bugger on the system though.... So more enforced weight loss, last Thursday morning before the surgery my weight was around 275 pounds, this morning, the Wednesday after my weight is now sitting at about 260 pounds, a 15 pound loss in one week. Miserable way to lose though. The first couple of days after my gall bladder came out I did pretty much nothing but sleep.... またね 健

I'm Baaacck!

Well, it's been a couple of months since I last posted here, I have posted on my other blog, about our trip to Japan. What's happening? A trip to the Emergency ward, with tonnes 'o pain in the gut, turns out my gallbladder no longer likes me and wants out. ;-) If it keeps this up, I'm only too happy to let it go. So sometime around thanksgiving this year it's back into the operating room. Oh well, enforced (strict) diets tend to melt weight off quickly, trouble is, it usually comes back almost as fast as it went. :-( またね

Next Goal

Well, I have set my next weight goal, a moderate one (again) but significant. 250 pounds. That's 10 pounds to lose (Yes, I am now sitting at 260) It is significant because it will make a total loss of 100 pounds.... Today I tried on a pair of jeans I haven't been able to wear for 10 years. They fit, Just right... they are a 44 waist which means a loss of 10 inches off of my waist so far. Woo hoo! またね

Owwowwowww!

That is not a line from the euphonic type Goon Show, but a pitiful sound coming out of my mouth at the moment..... I should know better when I am told spans of time for recovery events! I always have them a day or two (or 3 or 4) later than everyone else... My jaw hurts!!! I may pop a picture of the surviving teeth onto the page, but then again, I don't think anyone R*E*A*L*L*Y wants to see two moderately rotten wisdom teeth... (I gather the other two had to be cut out... No wonder my jaw hurts!) またね

More bits removed.

So in March (21st) I had my tonsils removed. Last week (June 1st) I had all 4 wisdom teeth yanked.... It has taken a few years of avoidance techniques (kidding) to get this far, but thank goodness they are out.... But the process of recovery is not pleasant... They had started to cause me some issues and I didn't want any while I was visiting Japan. Oh, and I now sit at 265 pounds, it's amazing how being able to only swallow liquids for a few days can drop your weight.... I know, a shallow weight loss, and it will come back fairly quickly most likely, but for now it is off. またね

Spoke Too Soon

Hmmm, did I say in a previous post that it would not be too difficult to drop to 270 pounds? Well, I spoke too soon, the post - surgery weight loss was somewhat hollow.... I shot up to 285 within a week of being able to eat again, it has taken almost two months to get back down to 275... Oh well. Next stop, 270. またね
