What is the Christ candle?

The Christ candle represents the light of God come to Earth in human form, the form a baby. That baby came to Earth to go to the cross, to be the sacrifice for all of our sins. His sacrifice made up for the annual temple sacrifice which could never atone once, for all, for all our sins.

From John 1:4-5

In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it

The Christ Candle fills a similar function as the Paschal Candle at Easter. It represents the work of Christ to us, our light in the darkness through his birth, life, death, and resurrection.

What should our response be?

Matthew 5:16 clearly tells us:

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. And as John said in 1 john 1:5 -7 This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin

What Does the Fourth Advent Candle Stand for?

While Advent wreaths as we know them have been around for nearly 200 years, the tradition of celebrating Advent goes back much further. As a result, advent wreath designs and the number of Advent candles vary worldwide and across denominations.

In contemporary Western Christianity, the typical Advent wreath has four candles inside an evergreen wreath. Each one is lit during a new week of Advent and has a particular meaning attached to it. Candle 1 is known as “Hope, or sometimes, the Prophet’s Candle,” and it stands for hope. Candle 2 is known as “the Peace, or Bethlehem Candle,” and stands for peace. Candle 3 known as “the Joy Candle” and stands for joy. Candle 4 is known as “the Love Candle, also often called the Angel’s Candle,” and stands for love.

Some Christians add a fifth candle, known as “Christ’s Candle,” which stands for baby Jesus. This candle is lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, the culmination of Advent.

 

On the Third Sunday Of Advent, we light the Joy Candle, Otherwise known as the Shepherd Candle, this candle reflects the joy that comes through Jesus’ arrival, and through the salvation he has gifted us.

For the Catholic, Anglican and Lutheran Churches, this Sunday is also often called "Gaudete" (Gaudete is from the Latin, which means Rejoice) So, we are to be joyful at the arrival of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, the Christ. He will save His people.

This is the second Sunday of Advent - the lighting of the Peace Candle, also called the Bethlehem Candle. This candle points to a future of peace, one which will last forever. But first, Christ was to be born in Bethlehem, in the most humble of circumstances. Then, amazingly to some, He needed to go to the Cross, eventually, he will return, then, and only then, will everlasting peace come to pass. It's up to you to understand and receive Him into your heart. Only you can decide that for yourself.

Until that time, we remember the birth of the Christ child, in the most humble of circumstances.

 

 What Is Advent?

Advent is a four-week season in the Church calendar dedicated to anticipating the arrival, or "advent," of Jesus of Nazareth, the long-awaited Messiah and King. Christians from many backgrounds celebrate this time with reflections on hope, peace, love, and joy. And while their practices may look different, all focus on the hope-filled arrival of Jesus.

 Why Is Advent Important?

Advent can be a simple and fun tradition of counting down to Christmas. But for others—particularly those who believe Jesus to be the incarnation of God and the long-awaited Messiah—Advent is a shared experience of meditation and prayer that celebrates the arrival of Jesus.


What about the First Candle of Advent?

The first candle of Advent, represents the Hope of the arrival of the coming Messiah, Jesus, the redeemer. He was to reconcile man to God, sacrificing Himself on the cross to save us.

Alleviating my dark workspace.

Continuing the studio lighting build with a trip to the shop.
This starts with drilling out five sheets of 1/8" aluminum which I
scrounged from a local aluminum boat builder - the grandson of
friends.

These lights will have LED strips in them to provide
Cool/neutral/warm white light.

Over the last couple of build videos I did, I decided that I need studio lights, badly. So rather than buying them (good ones can be pricey) I decided to make a few, possibly not that much cheaper, but it gives the opportunity to do a build video. The lighting will be provided by white LEDs. No sign of the mystery make in here (yet) but more on it coming soon, but I needed to make these first, so that y'all will be able to see what I'm doing without squinting. In this video, I use Freecad to design parts of the light's structure, and Freecad is primarily about what part 1 of the lighting video is about. Eventually we'll get to assembling the lights, then on to the heat-set insert tool, then onward to the main mystery build.

And at first glance, the universe of Star Trek seems to be utterly fantastic, there's  peace, love, security of the person, everyone has something to do. What will the future TRULY be like? I don't think it's what Gene Roddenberry tried to convince us it would be like.

In my opinion, what we are seeing, what we have been seeing for four years, is some form of Elder Abuse. It became much more obvious from the debate going forward. It's obvious (in my opinion, anyway) what we are seeing is a man suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's disease. He looks like a man who really has no clue where he is. I have despised Biden's politics and attitudes for years, but would not wish this on anyone, not even an enemy. Who is the puppet master here? Who is pulling the strings?

 That Hideous Strength - By C. S. Lewis - The final entry in The Space Trilogy, and the darkest of the three. Lewis weaves quite a tale in these three books, especially the third. Throughout, he mixes in his Christian beliefs, but he also weaves in a healthy helping of fairy tale for good measure. We even get to see a hint at the coming World Economic Forum, the W.E.F. and the evil behind it.

So I received a question some time ago (sorry to whomever posted it):

What pin do I hook up a motor to?

The short answer: you don't, not directly.

 

A direct current, or DC, motor is the most common type of motor. DC motors 

normally have just two leads, one positive and one negative. If you connect these

two leads directly to a battery, the motor will rotate. If you switch the leads, the

motor will rotate in the opposite direction.

 

The Arduino can only provide 40mA at 5V on its digital pins. Most motors require

 more current and/or voltage to operate. A transistor can act as a digital switch,

enabling the Arduino to control loads with higher electrical requirements. The 

transistor in this example completes the motor's circuit to ground. Arduinos are

great to direct drive an led or two, but a DC motor will draw too much current, and

will probably fry the Arduino. Here is the circuit to drive the motor:

(In this case, the transistor I'm using is a P2N2222AG, not much different

from a standard 2N2222 - it's what I had within reach when I made the video.)

Now, if you watch the

video,  you will see that

this circuit differs from

the one I show in the video,

in that there is an extra 330

Ohm resistor in parallel to

the 10 K Ohm resistor, this

is because the 10 K resistor

was too high a value, the

voltage to turn on the transistor

was dropped too much, and the transistor would not turn on. With the

330 Ohm and 10K ohm in parallel, the circuit works just fine.

A cosmic game of chess, sort of, at least, that's how I am portraying things in this 3 - part video series. The moves which led up to Easter, and check. Part 3 (who knows when that will arrive) will describe mate - an event in the future. When I was much younger, I used to play a chess game called "Battle Chess" it was a chess game which used all the standard rules of regular chess, but the pieces walked to their spots on the board, then they attacked when taking an opponant's piece. This was as close as I could come visually.

This dangerous blasphemy has been creeping into the pulpit for a few years, but lately, the spread seems to have hit overdrive.

Those of us who follow Christ know the truth of the matter. 

How?

We actually read the Word of God, and believe on His Son.

Re-interpretation of the Bible through a worldly (especially feminist) lens is a very dangerous theology, there are multiple passages about false teachers and false prophets.

A few of them being:

Matthew 24:24 

    For false christs and false prophets will arise and will provide great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.

I John 4:1
    Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

II Corinthians 11:13-15

¹³ For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. ¹⁵ So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

Model trains, one of my big loves, along with so much technical, musical and literary. In September 2023 we went up to Sydney, BC, where the Victoria Model Railway Show was held.

This show has really shrunk over the years.

It's still worth the trip, though.

 The big mystery make project, what is it, can you guess? Will it work when I'm finished? It's desktop sized, and fairly complex, in fact, it's the most complex thing I've tackled to date, and I'm worried about it. Building it involves Stepper motors, wires, gears, a microcontroller, computer interface,  and lots of 3d printing and metalwork. This is a long one, so, give yourself some time.

 

 We are all Time Travelers in this life, after a fashion, we live in a completely linear timeline, we can't exit it, go back or jump ahead in the queue. We can only go forward, time is a river pushing us ever onward at a constant pace, no matter what we are told be TV, Movies, or theorists.
